  • Overview

    Product Engineering Technician – Connectors & Adapters 

    SCHEDULE: 
    Typical schedule will be 1st shift, 8-5, but flexible as this person will not be tied to a production line, but rather in the engineering office areas and equipment laboratory in the Keller Production facility.
     
    PURPOSE OF POSITION: 
    • Execute provided Design of Experiments (DOE) & Root Cause Analysis (RCA) test plans to drive rigorous understand of performance variables 
    • Facilitate product lifecycle management through PTC Windchill using Engineering Change Request & Notifications (ECR & ECN). 
    • Supports project execution by meticulously testing product variables & reporting impartial results to Product Engineers 

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT 
    • Associates of Applied Science – Laser Electro Optics or Mechanical Engineering 
    • Will consider Bachelor degree holder but prefer 2-yr degree holder 

    WORK EXPERIENCE 
    • Minimum of 2 years as Quality Assurance or Product/Process Development Technician 
    • Strong preference for Optical Fiber experience 
    • Experience with Keyence Vision Systems & Instron Measurement Equipment (or similar) is a plus 

    TRAVEL 
    • Less than 10% Travel 

    REQUIRED SKILLS 
    • Organization, time management, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities 
    • Comfortable working with tools & electrical equipment (drills, band saws, microscopes, etc.) 
    • Proficient in written & spoken English, able to clearly communicate technical concepts 
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint – especially Excel 

    DESIRED SKILLS 
    • Familiar with a product life cycle management system similar to Windchill 
    • Capable of performing data analysis using MS excel (SPC), or Minitab software 
    • Product troubleshooting, repair or failure mode analysis 
    • Design & fabrication of fixtures (machinist experience is a plus) 

    SOFT SKILLS 
    • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment with limited guidance 
    • Willing to ask clarifying questions and avoid assumptions 
    • Detail oriented and consistent performer
